Good afternoon and welcome to the Good
0:08
Plates Kitchen. Today we're making a
0:11
bean dip. Now, I found this recipe in a
0:15
really old um newspaper article and it
0:19
sounded kind of interesting, so I
0:21
decided I should make it anyway. Okay.
0:24
And here's what we have. We have a can
0:27
of black beans.
0:31
dry mustard. This is wonderful.
0:32
Coleman's.
0:34
We have creamy style horseradish. The
0:37
recipe calls for that. I'm not sure if
0:39
I'm going to put it in because we have
0:41
someone here who doesn't like it. So,
0:42
we'll see. Uh worershir sauce, of
0:45
course.
0:47
Of course, it's got to be, you know,
0:49
real mayonnaise.
0:50
And, uh the recipe calls for sweet
0:52
relish, so this should be kind of
0:54
interesting. And I'm using red onions
0:58
and garlic. Okay.
1:01
Now, the first thing we're going to do,
1:03
we're going to do
1:05
the beans. And
1:08
I don't know about you, but I don't like
1:10
the stuff that's in the canned beans.
1:12
The the liquid. I don't like it. Anyway,
1:16
I have found that a
1:19
rice, this is for um for draining rice.
1:24
It does a great job because the beans
1:27
can't fall out and I can rinse it under
1:29
water and they'll be wonderful. And
1:32
okay, so here are our beans that are
1:34
nicely drained and rinsed
1:40
and I'm going to put them into the bowl.
1:51
Onion,
2:02
garlic,
2:05
and we need some
2:08
dry mustard.
2:12
Dry mustard.
2:16
Few
2:22
drops of wisterershure,
2:30
freshly ground black pepper,
2:40
a little bit of salt. You don't need too
2:43
much salt because mostly the can Beans
2:47
are usually already salted unless you
2:49
get un unsalted.
2:51
They make those. Okay. Now,
2:55
next is
2:58
I'm going to put the relish in.
3:06
One. Two.
3:09
And then I'm going to put mayonnaise.
3:14
One.
3:16
do.
3:18
And now
3:20
I'm going to use
3:24
an immersion blender.
3:26
This is an immersion blender.
3:32
See,
3:34
it goes around. Okay. And this is the
3:37
bottom part of it.
3:41
I highly recommend one of these. Yes,
3:44
you could put this in a regular blender.
3:47
An immersion blender is kind of fun
3:49
because
3:50
it's a little easier to clean. And okay,
3:54
here we go.

4:16
Oh, you know what?
4:19
This is going to be great. This is going
4:20
to be great for him.
4:24
Looks like mud

4:29
[Applause]
4:36
now.
4:38
I don't know about you,
4:41
but I am really interested
4:44
in tasting this.
4:47
I'm just going to grab a little bit.
4:51
This is supposed to be really amazing.
4:57
And you know what?
5:03
It is amazing.
5:06
That's very good.
5:15
The
5:17
relish makes it sweet.
5:21
Not very sweet, just a little hint of
5:23
sweetness.
5:25
And the beans, of course, are earthy.
5:27
The mayonnaise gives it richness. I'm
5:30
going to let this sit in the
5:32
refrigerator
5:34
for about an hour and let all the
5:36
flavors come together. And we will see
5:39
you next time on the good plate.
5:42
Remember,
5:45
ever forward, ever flavorful. Yum, yum.
