0:05
good afternoon and welcome to the good
0:08
plates
0:09
kitchen today we are making Tim
0:13
Walls
0:15
style turkey Taco hot
0:19
dish and we're going to go through the
0:22
ingredients this is a wonderful this is
0:25
going to be a wonderful C casserole that
0:27
I'm going to make for you and we're
0:29
going to start off with ground
0:32
turkey and then to make it extra hot I
0:36
have some red heno otherwise known as or
0:39
Fresno would be just fine and
0:45
onions um bell
0:48
pepper taco sauce you can use whatever
0:51
brand you like I just happen to have
0:52
this on hand
0:55
um olives
1:01
corn and chili beans now the original
1:05
recipe does not call for chili beans but
1:08
I'm putting them in there
1:10
because
1:12
corn is basically IND
1:15
just indigestible for the human stomach
1:19
however corn and beans together do
1:23
something magical in your stomach and it
1:26
aids the the beans Aid the digestion
1:28
okay what's the other what's the other
1:30
stuff okay we got cheese of course
1:32
because tacos have cheese
1:35
and instead of tortillas it's potato
1:41
puffs or Hots that's why it's called hot
1:45
dish because it's made with tots so okay
1:48
let's get started as you can see I am
1:51
using a 12in cast iron skillet this is a
1:55
great size Skillet to make casseroles in
1:58
it goes right in oven it goes on the
2:00
stove top goes in the oven you don't
2:03
have to dirty extra pots and pans to
2:06
make this just one pot Works beautifully
2:20
so we'll start off by pulling putting
2:23
some olive oil in the
2:27
pan if you want to prevent sticking
2:30
the best way to do that is to heat the
2:33
pan and then add the
2:37
oil and then let the
2:40
oil come to the point where it's
2:42
shimmering that will keep things from
2:44
sticking because what happens is it
2:47
makes a
2:51
temporary barrier and the food will just
2:54
kind of float on top so you don't have
2:57
to
2:58
use nonstick cookwar if you don't want
3:01
to okay that looks like it's nicely
3:08
distributed and we're going to add the
3:10
onions first because onions take longer
3:12
to
3:14
cook here we
3:20
go make sure everybody gets in there
3:36
and sauté that a little
3:38
bit
3:52
okay and when the onions start turning
3:54
translucent which they are doing
3:57
now it is time to add
4:00
the peppers these are by the way these
4:04
peppers are frozen and this is a great
4:06
prep thing so all you do is you buy
4:09
peppers and you can slice some of them
4:11
and chop some of them and you can do
4:13
what called a flash freeze so you put
4:16
them on a put them on that flexible
4:19
cutting board you flash freeze them by
4:22
putting them in the freezer wink till
4:23
they're hard and then you can put them
4:26
in a bag or whatever you want to do and
4:28
then you could use them as needed this
4:30
is it's a great time
4:39
saer okay the peppers are
4:50
in and one of the
4:53
reasons
4:55
why you want to sauté the vegetables
4:58
first before you do the meat
5:00
meat in this case turkey is
5:04
because it will flavor the oil which
5:07
will give the protein more flavor
5:12
too and here comes the hot stuff again
5:16
these are Fresno Peppers you could use
5:19
red jalapenos if you have
5:22
those or you could use regular green
5:24
jalapenos
5:26
too of course it's very very important
5:29
to wear gloves when you work with any
5:34
kind of chili pepper um I have a few
5:37
videos on that there'll be a video in a
5:39
link to one of the videos in the
5:41
description in case you want to know
5:43
about
5:53
that okay
6:01
okay that's ready go now it's time to
6:05
put in the
6:09
turkey kind of break it up with your
6:16
hand
6:19
okay and we're going to cook that until
6:22
it's cooked through and then we'll
6:24
continue but you know just like a watch
6:28
pot never boils watch turkey never
6:31
Browns we'll see you in a few
6:33
minutes okay while the turkey is cooking
6:38
you can of course add some seasoning to
6:40
it and going to start
6:44
with some freshly ground black
6:55
pepper and yes this is a coffee grinder
6:58
that's exactly what it is
7:00
is it works very very
7:04
well
7:06
and
7:10
some salt distribute it well over
7:22
it
7:24
and I'm going to add just because I like
7:27
a little Smokey flavor I'm adding a
7:30
little
7:34
Chipotle be
7:37
generous of course if you don't like
7:40
things to be really spicy you can omit a
7:43
lot of these spices you can omit the
7:46
freso
7:47
chili and now I'm going to add Chili
7:50
Pepper or rather excuse me chili
7:53
powder not a lot of that CU that's got
7:56
cumin in it which we want
7:59
M it smells so
8:01
good and we're going to
8:04
add generous spoonful of
8:08
paprika because I think that everything
8:10
is good with
8:12
Paprika surprisingly even chocolate cake
8:15
yes I've done that before okay let's
8:19
continue stirring this and see how we're
8:22
doing oh very
8:26
nice okay it looks like
8:30
this is nicely
8:32
cooked it's all seasoned
8:36
well it is now time to start adding some
8:38
of the other ingredients if there's a
8:42
little bit that's still uncooked here
8:45
it's okay because this is all going to
8:46
be going in the oven
8:48
anyway okay so that's
8:50
that and I'm going to
8:54
add these
8:58
are green chilies they're they're
9:02
mild add
9:05
them
9:08
and
9:12
olives and whole
9:17
corn and the beans can have corn that
9:22
beans and I I'm going to
9:25
take spatula
9:34
mix this all
9:46
together
9:50
oops okay
9:54
now and I'll show you how to do that
9:56
later I'm going to also add some sour
9:59
cream to
10:03
this this is
10:09
about a cup or so the reason why we
10:11
didn't add this earlier is because sour
10:14
cream has a
10:15
tendency to break apart under high heat
10:19
so we didn't want that to happen and
10:21
we're just going to mix it in like this
10:29
now if you didn't already know
10:33
this hot
10:36
peppers of course make your
10:40
mouth very hot because the active
10:46
ingredient gets your mucous membranes so
10:50
that's why you don't want to
10:52
put Hot Chili Peppers in your eyes or in
10:55
your nose or anything like that but the
10:58
one thing that really stops that burning
11:01
sensation is dairy products because it
11:05
has an enzyme in it that occurs
11:08
naturally
11:12
and I'll have some more information
11:14
about
11:16
that in uh post there will be
11:21
a link to that in the description okay
11:25
so the sour cream is in there that looks
11:27
absolutely delicious and the next thing
11:30
we're going to do we're going to put
11:32
some cheese on top not all of it just
11:35
some we're going to kind of layer it
11:37
okay so here's some
11:39
cheese it's grated
11:42
cheese this is a combination cheese you
11:44
can use whatever cheese you like you can
11:48
use a comb this is M Jack and cheddar
11:52
mixed
11:56
together okay now time to to
12:00
put
12:01
the tots on okay so we're going to put
12:07
tots just going to put a bunch of them
12:09
on
12:10
there and spread them
12:19
around now I'm going to put more cheese
12:22
on top of that
12:33
make it flatten it out a little
12:34
bit
12:36
now as I said in the beginning of the
12:38
video this is a recipe that was inspired
12:42
by Tim Walls who is running for vice
12:45
president in the 2024 election and I'm
12:48
reminding you now to vote I don't care
12:51
who you vote for but just remember to
12:55
vote so
12:59
we're going to do
13:02
this we're going to put a big
13:05
V for
13:14
vote if you haven't already
13:18
registered get
13:22
registered check with your county
13:24
official to find out more information
13:27
about registering and dat dates
13:30
for um the election is November 5th but
13:33
you need to find out uh your last day
13:37
that you can register and um whether you
13:40
can vote by mail and all that other
13:42
stuff and your County Register will have
13:43
all that information so make sure that
13:46
you register to vote okay and now we're
13:49
going to take Tim Walls
13:52
style
13:54
turkey Taco hot
13:59
tot hot
14:01
dish it's a tongue twister and we're
14:04
going to put it in the oven at 400 Dees
14:08
for about 35 40 minutes or until the
14:11
cheese is melted and then we're going to
14:13
try it and we'll be back okay and we're
14:15
back the casserole is out of the oven
14:18
and we're going to put some toppings on
14:20
it like you would put on your taco um
14:23
some people like lettuce we like cabbage
14:25
a little bit better because it stands up
14:27
to heat lettuce all lettuce does
14:31
is melt or just get nasty right away but
14:35
cabbage stays crunchy even though it's
14:38
in a hot hot situation so we're putting
14:41
some cabbage on there
14:45
okay
14:47
cabbage
14:49
and
14:52
some green onion spring onion
15:00
okay
15:05
and I'm sure everybody gets out cuz we
15:08
want everything okay
15:11
and tomatoes yes tomatoes are next
15:32
a lot of people like avocado on their
15:34
Taco so we got some of we have some of
15:37
that
15:46
okay
15:49
and just to make things interesting I
15:52
always like a little extra sour cream on
15:54
mine so I'm putting some sour cream on
15:56
here too even though there sour cream
15:59
inside the casserole I'm putting some of
16:01
that
16:02
also all
16:04
right this casserole is
16:07
done and we're going to serve
16:10
it in a few
16:14
minutes okay and we are at we're in the
16:17
living room we're going to try this it
16:20
looks delicious doesn't it okay here we
16:24
go
16:26
and this is ooh gooey cheesy
16:30
wow little sour
16:33
cream there we
16:36
go and I'm going to try it see how it
16:40
tastes and
16:42
um we'll see how Tim
16:45
Wall's turkey Taco TT style casserole
16:53
is
16:55
M that's really good
17:01
it's
17:04
spicy it's
17:07
filling and really cheesy
17:11
okay see you next time on the good plate
17:15
thanks for watching bye-bye
17:19
